2008 Thailand Blocklist Statistics: 1,303 new websites CENSORED!

860 YouTube videos are blocked in Thailand, including YouTube websites in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Taiwan, along with a further 200 pages mirroring YouTube videos.

Nine StopLeseMajeste pages. StopLeseMajeste is a YouTube channel responsible for distribution of the dozens of YouTube videos considered lese majeste.

Numerous weblog pages commenting on Thailand’s ban of YouTube pages are also blocked.

Other weblog pages expressing dissenting voices like 15yearsprison (31 pages blocked), freethailandnow (five pages blocked) and others.

Webboard pages at popular discussion groups, Pracahatai (45 pages blocked), Same Sky (56 pages blocked), MThai, Sanook and Dek-D.

Googlepages relating to the present Chakri dynasty (KIng Bhumibhol is Chakri King Rama IX) and Thai translations of The King Never Smiles by Paul Handley.

Some Googlegroups including those in the respected Usenet newsgroup, soc.culture.thai

Webpages in support of prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, deposed by military coup d’etat on September 19, 2006.

Bum fight movies, sports webpages, 24 Charlie Chaplin videos (perhaps due to the web location at Clown-Ministry), auto advertising, respected newsmagazine The Economist, and Hillary Clinton’s campaign videos.

    The Thai distributor of “The Economist” banned the 6-10 December issue of the magazine because it contained an article critical of the country’s monarch, news reports said.

  2. Anybody know of any expat blogs in Thailand that are blocked? There are a lot of expats talking about things that I wouldn’t talk about on my blog – I wonder if anyone has been blocked…
