Transgender weblog blocked
January 21, 2008
[FACT comments: The following post appeared in The Nation’s Weblog. The blogs shut down yesterday with no warning may be just the tip of the iceberg. There must be others, like this one, which have fallen through the cracks, gone and unnoticed. Even the posts about Lalida‘s transgender blog have been deleted.]
Trying To Understand the New Blog Censorship
The Nation Weblog: January 10, 2008
Certainly the blog administrators are cracking down on bad people. As well they should. And I am scared. I have fear too.
So I have just reread the posting on why Lalida was banned. And the administrator writes Lalida “is banned because it targeted on the “3rd gender” that falls under our rule which wants to keep out attacks on personality and debates that involve racism or sexism.”
Okay. I guess. Am I suppose to understand that? Well, I never claimed to be to bright, that is I am not intelligent. But it sure seems that I must be dumb. Yes, I must be real dumb.
Do not want to target the 3rd gender. Nope, sure do not want to do that. The 4th gender? No? Yes, I see. No attacks on personality.
Now we just had an election (so called) in Thailand. And it sure was good to see that personality never came up. Not discussed at all. Not even hinted at that maybe one candidate might be corrupt or a proxy or bad character and another candidate might be smart and well educated and good looking even.
And in the United States? Well an election is going on now that is based 100% percent on personality and character and the words that are used and the age and the looks and the sex and even the race.
Yes, race! And yet you mention, Mr. or Ms administrator, something about racism and sexism and I do not understand that at all. Two blogs are about bigotry and deal with racism and sexism.
And did you know that racism is a major issue? Throughout the world it is discussed, debated and made a pivotal part of political discourse. Did you know that?
Well we can not discuss that in bloggville. Okay.
And I can think of many other topics that are out of bounds too.
Well, we can discuss the weather. And read bad reviews of bad movies. That’s fun. And you know something, my village has nicer dogs than your village. Now that we can sure have fun debating.
So ban Lalida and Earlsy. And, I guess, you will ban me. I am disagreeing or, more accurately, not understanding. And that is because I do not understand much. So I should be banned Ban me because I am stupid.
See, when I went to school, back during the Punic Wars, it took two to tango. That is one person could not fight alone. So you ban only one person and not the other person and that is fine. I guess so. I like to tango alone. So do you.
So tell me, if you eat corned beef sandwiches would you have them on white bread with a bit of mayo?
