Thailand’s ICT Expo belatedly finds its voice

ICT Expo 2007, for some reason, was the opposite of [2006]. Was it because of the last ICT Minister’s management style? Or was it because he did not manage it? The star speaker, Wikipedia co-founder “Jimbo” Wales, dropped a bombshell right from the start, warning his hosts at MICT against censorship. Did he know at the time that MICT was responsible for censorship in this country? He does now.

The telecom roundtable was nothing short of amazing, with Dr Thaweesak Koanantakool inviting outspoken panellists who had no qualms about speaking their mind in a way that would probably have had the government squirming around uneasily had they bothered to listen.
