[FACT comments: We now have military PM Surayud asking Thais to simply avoid mentioning the monarchy. Nai Luang features in countless Thai conversations every single day. So now we should avoid mentioning we have a king?!?
Jakrapob's remarks to the FCCT were no more ‘divisive’ that those expressed in the monarchy panels at the academic Thai Studies Conference. A buffalo’s worldview may have found lese majeste at that Conference. But, in fact, the discussions provided valuable historical context to the modern monarchy. Remember, Jakrapob was talking about the Sukhotai monarchy, 1238-1378 A.D.!
Jakrapob's remarks in context do not merely encompass King Bhumipol but his successors. Of course, Jakrapob had a political agenda in discussing Royal patronage at the FCCT (hey, we aren’t stupid!) but lese majeste is the least of it.
Khun Surayud, lese majeste laws are the divisive issue!
If one believes in free expression and stands (!) to support Chotisak & Chutima, then we must also defend Jakrapob on this issue.]

Pressure mounts on Jakrapob
Bangkok Post: May 19, 2008

Conflicting parties should avoid making references to the monarchy as it could be socially divisive, says Privy Councillor and former prime minister Surayud Chulanont. His remarks come as the Democrat party tries to have PM’s Office Minister Jakrapob Penkair impeached for a speech allegedly expressing doubts about the monarchy.

I am glad that the Thais are not stupid enough to fall for this pathetic puppet
